Accessing your Google Analytics Reports

Click here to watch a tutorial on accessing your Google Analytics reports.

Once you've accessed the Analytics dashboard, take some time to explore the different reports. Post your questions and insights to the blog so others can benefit from you wisdom (or confusion).

An example of how to use this blog:

Let's say you are looking at your report and you notice the average time on your site is 2 minutes 45 seconds.

Is that good or bad? What average time should we be shooting for? If my average time is high or low, what can I do to improve it?

These are the kinds of questions we can answer together and everyone can benefit from the discovery.

If you have trouble using this blog (i.e. creating new posts, commenting on or editing existing posts), send me an e-mail at adam.halstrom@utah.edu and I'll see what I can do to help.

Setting up a Google Analytics Account

Click here to watch a tutorial on setting up a Google Analytics account using your brand new Google account.

At the end of the account setup, before you click the "Save and Finish" button, be sure to copy the tracking code into a Notepad or Word document and save the code. You can access the code through Google Analytics later, but it's much easier to just copy and paste it so you can save it yourself.

Once you have your tracking code, send the code to either me (adam.halstrom@utah.edu) or Mark (mark.standre@utah.edu) and we will make sure it gets added to your HUMIS template.

I'll post another tutorial on how to access the reports.

Let me know if any of you have any questions and feel free to use the comments feature of this blog!

Setting up a Google Account for your Org

Click here to watch a tutorial on setting up a Google account using your Org's shared "info" e-mail address.

A note on password creation: Make sure you create a password that you won't mind transferring to the person who takes over your position when/if you leave. In other words, don't use your personal online banking password, or your CIS password. Come up with something original that other people in your Org can use to sign in to this account.

Welcome to the UGS Web Steering Committee Blog!

This blog has been created for people tasked with creating, editing, and maintaining websites associated with Undergraduate Studies. We will each be able to share web development tips, highlight new features in HUMIS, and link to web development resources.

We hope this forum will give people a chance to ask questions and get feedback and advice on issues they are having with HUMIS or web development in general.

This blog will also serve as a space for us to continue the conversations started at our Web Steering Committee meetings.

Please take the time to share your ideas and questions, and respond to other posts.
